The terms, in plain English
1. Board & payment. Board is due on the 1st of each month. A $25 late fee applies on the 6th. Board includes the care described on our Boarding page for the plan selected. Veterinary and farrier services arranged by Gracewood Acres at the Owner's request are billed through to the Owner at cost plus $10 .
2. Health requirements. The Owner certifies the horse is current on vaccinations and has a negative Coggins (EIA) test within the last 12 months , and will keep both current while boarding. Gracewood Acres may refuse or remove any horse that poses a health or safety risk to the herd.
3. Emergency care. If the horse needs veterinary attention and the Owner cannot be reached, the Owner authorizes Gracewood Acres to obtain care from a licensed veterinarian and accepts financial responsibility for it. (Complete the Emergency Vet Authorization for standing instructions.)
4. Care, custody & risk. Gracewood Acres will provide attentive daily care but is not an insurer of the horse's safety . The Owner understands that injury, illness, or death can occur despite good care, and releases Gracewood Acres from liability for injury to, illness of, or death of the horse , except where caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of Gracewood Acres. The Owner is encouraged to carry their own equine mortality and major-medical insurance.
5. The Owner's liability. The Owner is responsible for injury or damage caused by the horse and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Gracewood Acres from claims, loss, or damage arising from the horse, except those caused by Gracewood Acres' gross negligence.
6. Rate changes & termination. Either party may end this agreement with 30 days' written notice . Board rate changes also take 30 days' written notice. Board is non-refundable for partial months once the month has begun.
7. Unpaid board / lien. If board or charges go unpaid, Gracewood Acres may exercise a stablekeeper's lien on the horse under Tennessee law (TCA Title 66, Chapter 20) for unpaid amounts, after proper notice.
8. General. This agreement is governed by Tennessee law. Every person handling or riding the horse at the farm must also sign the Liability Waiver .
