Under Tennessee law, an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities, pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 44, Chapter 20.

Riding is a risk sport. Horses can spook, bolt, buck, or fall. You are choosing to ride anyway, and you accept those risks.

In exchange for lessons and instruction at Gracewood Acres, I, on behalf of the rider named above (and as parent/guardian if the rider is a minor) and our heirs and representatives, agree:

1. Assumption of risk. I understand horseback riding is inherently dangerous, that horses are unpredictable, and that injury or death can result regardless of instruction or experience. I knowingly assume all such risks.

2. Release. I release, waive, and hold harmless Gracewood Acres, its owners, instructors, employees, and volunteers from any and all claims for injury, death, or property damage arising from the rider's participation, including claims based on ordinary negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by Tennessee law. I understand the farm's liability insurance does not cover injury to participants.

3. Helmet. An ASTM/SEI-approved riding helmet is required for all mounted activity and is provided. The rider will wear one at all times while mounted.

4. Instruction. The rider agrees to follow instructor directions. The instructor may end any lesson for safety. I confirm the rider is physically able to ride.

5. Medical & governing law. I authorize emergency medical care if needed and accept responsibility for its cost. This agreement is governed by Tennessee law; if any part is unenforceable, the rest stands.

I have read and agree to the release and assumption of risk above. The rider will wear an approved helmet for all mounted activity. If the rider is under 18: I am the parent/legal guardian and sign on their behalf. (Leave unchecked if adult rider.)
